Second Sight: Seeing with new eyes
"Why are you this way?"
It’s hard to be with the difficult people in our lives, especially when they are family members. We may have grown up, become independent, and physically moved away from someone, or most of our family, but we can still carry their influence unconsciously wherever we go if something remains unresolved. We may have ended a relationship while retaining some of the resentment or broken-heartedness. Only we can know, in our moments of stillness and reflection, where we are at peace, and where we are still entangled with someone else. Love relationships and marriage will accelerate the learning our soul agreed to bring to us, and may show us how well we are doing with loving someone exactly as they are without wishing they were different.
A Constellation is like a drop of medicine in an ocean- a moment that begins to have a ripple effect. It’s not an ultimate healing way, but it can open a portal of healing energy for you and bring you a new way of seeing someone else. What you had carried as just a story in the family history may be cracked open to reveal the profound impact it had on the people who were close to it, and how it affected everyone all the way down to you. The entanglements we may have with the fates of others will limit some of the ways we’re open to life, and act as a soul drag on our evolution in life to become who we are. Releasing what’s not our responsibility can give us more liberation; taking adult responsibility for what is ours can give us more strength. Seeing another, as well as the burdens they carried, with new eyes can open the heart of compassion, soften our judgements, and help bring us to more peace and understanding.
A Family Constellation is a slow, respectful process that proceeds without judgement, and includes space for every family member and for everything that has happened. It creates an opportunity to take your inner image of your family and bring it into the room to explore the memory fields within it. Along with your DNA, you also inherited the values, beliefs, loves, strengths, losses, and unresolved difficult fates of your ancestors. You may find that out of love and loyalty, you have been unconcsiously trying to carry something painful that belonged to someone else- that was part of their fate, and not yours.
By looking at this material with the guidance and support of an experienced facilitator, you may be able to see that it's out of a child's pure, innocent love you've wanted to fix something that's not your responsibility, and is impossible to change anyway. This sacred practice can help you come to more understanding and more compassion for what your ancestors lived and struggled through while still having the strength to pass life on to another generation and ultimately to you.

Influences of Illness, Disease and Addiction In Your Family
Everyone has a right to belong to the family, regardless of their difficult fate or life circumstances. Was anyone in your family lineage excluded because of illness or addiction- especially mental illness? Prior to the 1970s mental illness carried significant stigma, and medical professionals often assumed the family was unable to care for or live with diagnosed family members. Those who carried illness were usually separated and isolated in institutions. No one saw their symptoms in terms of systems intelligence: as signals from the larger family soul that something remained unhealed, out of balance, and in need of attention. Families often carried shame and hid the afflicted member from their communities, cutting them off from ancestral connection when they needed it the most. Healing rituals are important to bring people like this back into the family to give them an honored place.
In Family Constellations we say, everyone is entitled to their own fate. Who attempted to carry the burden of an illness for another? Who tried to rescue another? Who may have lived from the child’s blind love and said, “Better me than you. Better I have this illness than you. I’ll follow you into this illness. I’ll have that too.”? It's helpful to look for multigenerational patterns. Who followed or imitated someone who carried the illness?
With addictions, there is often an impulse to alter consciousness in order to go looking in the other dimension for a family member who was lost, died too soon, was excluded, did not return from war, had a tragic death like an accident, etc. Alcohol is called ‘spirits.’ The one addicted is unconsciously dulling the senses of this world to open the doorway to the spirit world. Or the substance abused is taken to fill the void of who is missing. Remember, we chose at the soul level to be born into a family with these illness/disease ‘companions.’ What might we be able to learn from the companion?

Early registration prices through October 3rd are $145 for individuals, and $125 each for multiple participants from the same family.After October 3rd the prices change to $175 for individuals and $155 for multiple family members.

If there is a family or health emergency that prevents you from attending, you’ll receive full credit toward a future workshop that takes place in the next year following this date.

Family Constellations are transformative processes that help uncover the hidden dynamics you may be carrying that influence you. Participants take turns working with unresolved issues in their life. A seeker shares a bit about a challenge, and then with the facilitator’s guidance chooses others from the group to stand and represent key family members and energies related to the issue. This creates a living embodiment of the energy field of the family soul, which allows the facilitator to search for the origins of the issue and bring as much healing as possible to those who were most impacted. The seeker can sit and observe the process from a distance, rather than in the disharmony of the unresolved energies. All participants pledge to maintain confidentiality throughout the workshop and afterwards.
Participants will receive a family questionnaire upon registration. This questionnaire will help you explore what may remain unresolved for you in what you inherited from your family lineage. Healing through the day is experienced just by observing from the edge of the circle; by standing as a representative; and by setting up one’s own Constellation. While there may not be time for every participant to work through a full Constellation, every attempt is made to give participants at least a brief Constellation by the end of the day. Standing as a representative for another’s sibling, for example, can touch you deeply and bring insight to your own sibling relationship.
